Vegetarianism is becoming more and more popular as people become aware of the health, social, and environmental benefits of vegetarianism. So, it is of no surprise that vegetarianism is growing throughout the world. I am not surprised to see India at the number one position as many Indians follow religions that promote vegetarianism. However, I have to say that I am pleased to see my home country of the United Kingdom ranking at number 2. One interesting thing that I noticed is that the Northern European countries seem to have higher rates of vegetarianism than the Southern European countries. Western Europe also has higher rates of vegetarianism than Eastern Europe.
